FOR RANCHES - LARGE OR
SMALL; 4-H PROJECTS AND HOMESTEADS; FAMILIES WITH KIDS

You may already own zebu, but if you don't
and aren't sure why you should, consider this:
-
Zebus can be used for meat
production, dairy production, breed stock, and labor.
-
They are the breed of choice
where grass and other forage are scarce because they require much
less food than their larger cousins.
-
Zebus get along well with other
livestock including horses making them a good choice for horse farms
that want to branch out.
- Zebus are a great investment. Why? Demand is
increasing and supply is relatively small for this easy-care breed.
A bred mini zebu cow will often pay for herself with her first calf.
-
They can be managed without
heavy
duty, specialized equipment and their smaller size negates the need
for large specialized trailers.
-
Zebus eat less food: only 1/3 of
the amount required by full-sized cattle.
-
Their size and easy-going nature
make them easy to handle in the show ring at 4-H events, fairs,
petting zoos, and regional and state competitions.
-
People seeking a healthy,
chemical-free alternative beef can raise zebus at home for an endless
supply of natural beef and milk.
-
Panel fence, barb wire fence and
even hotwire can effectively maintain your zebu herd.
-
Miniature zebus are a unique pet
that come in a variety of colors and patterns including white,
black, gray/blue, red, paint, and spotted.
-
Gentle and easy to train and care
for, miniature zebus are "just the right size" pets for children who
are intimidated by larger animals.
-
Their smaller size and diet
causes less damage to turf and pasture. One third of the pasture
acreage can be utilized for the same number of zebu as larger
cattle.
-
Homeowners with small acreage and zebu may be eligible for an agricultural tax exemption saving them
money each year.
